I think Wailupe Beach Park is a good place to study and do our final project because there are many animals that inhabit that area. This also means that there will be more habitats or niches that we can observe and record data on. I also think it is a good place to study because it is a close drive from my house, which means that there will be more opportunities to observe and experiment on that beach park. It was nice to have a wall right above the water because it gave us the chance to observe the niches without actually having going into the water and getting wet. There will be times we will be going in the water but if we have the wall we can observe the niches from 2 different angles or perspectives.
Observations:
-Saw many birds going in and out of the beach park
-The tide was low
-lots of large rocks were scattered
-fisherman
-crabs were loitering on rocky areas
-had some surf further away
-Uprooted coconut tree
-canal leading to unknown area
-tide was coming in
-some surfers
-lots of big dead fish in water (not 4-inch fish)
-Fishes were there (small to large)
-Large fish was about 3- 4 inches
-Small fish were about less than an inch-2 inches
Inferences
From the size and schools of the fishes, it seems as if this beach park is a spawning area for both fish and crabs.
The fish may also use this area to grow up because it is safe from predators and larger fish
From the looks of the dead fish carcasses, the fish may have been caught in the tide and eventually died in the shallow waters
Birds were feeding on the dead carcasses
